A released Lassen County inmate is not always a person who walked out of the jail lobby and went home. The Lassen County Adult Detention Facility handles local arrests and sentences, but the county also has High Desert State Prison, the former California Correctional Center, FCI Herlong, Lassen Probation, CDCR parole, and Lassen Superior Court records. Each system leaves a different paper trail. The sheriff's live jail page helps with current custody and very recent bookings. The release record, court register of actions, probation order, CDCR record, or BOP locator is usually more useful once a person has left custody.

The official jail page says the Adult Detention Facility is a Type II local detention facility. It houses pretrial and sentenced people, receives arrests and sentences for state crimes in Lassen County, and accepts bookings from the Sheriff's Office, CHP, Susanville Police, Probation, CDCR, Cal Fire, Herlong Security, FBI, and other agencies. That broad booking mix matters. A missing jail-row can mean release, transfer, court movement, state prison intake, federal custody, a hold, or a public-feed limit.

Lassen County Release Paths

Release is a status change, not a single form. In a local jail case, the person may leave on bail, bond, own recognizance, a citation, time served, a court order, a transfer, or completion of a short sentence. The research found a county online records form for a different department, not a clearly sheriff-specific jail records form. A caller should ask the Sheriff's Office for the current method for a booking, release, or booking-photo request.

1. Identify the custody system first: Lassen County jail, CDCR, BOP, probation, parole, or court.
2. For a local jail release, gather the name, date of birth if known, booking date, arresting agency, and case number if available.
3. Ask the jail or Sheriff's Office how to request public arrest and release information under the California Public Records Act.
4. Use purpose-neutral wording and request the booking number, booking date, charges, bail if public, release date/time, and manner of release.

7. If online records do not answer the release date or manner, request the sheriff, court, CDCR, or BOP record from the agency that holds it.

CDCR Search for Released Inmates

CDCR CIRIS covers California state-prison custody, including High Desert State Prison and historical CDCR records tied to California Correctional Center. It does not cover a Lassen County jail detainee who bonded out after a local arrest, and it does not cover BOP prisoners at FCI Herlong. CDCR's contact page directs public users who need help with CIRIS material to the Identification Unit at 916-445-6713 during weekday Pacific business hours, excluding holidays.

CIRIS is a state-prison tool. Use it after the jail and court path only when the person was sentenced or transferred into CDCR custody.

Lassen County Recent Releases

Lassen County does not publish a verified public 24-hour or 72-hour released-inmate list. The available public jail source is CitizenRIMS. Its public text says it lists current in-custody people and the most recent bookings at the Lassen County Jail. Public configuration showed inmates enabled, arrests enabled, warrants disabled, inmate photos disabled, and arrest photos disabled. That makes the portal useful for live custody and arrest context, but not a reliable release archive.

If a person appears as in custody, the person has not been confirmed as released from the county jail. If the person does not appear, use the arrest page, court portal, VINE, jail phone, or a records request before treating the absence as a release.

Lassen County Post-Release Supervision

Lassen Probation is a major local release path. Its FY 24/25 report states the county had 182 adults on active supervision at year end, including 121 on formal probation, 36 on Post Release Community Supervision, 5 on mandatory supervision, 3 in diversion, 7 ICOTS cases, and 10 in pretrial services. Those figures matter because many released people are no longer in jail but remain under court or county supervision.

CDCR DAPO is separate. It handles state parole for people released from California prisons. A person released from HDSP may parole to another county, and a person on Lassen Probation may never have been a CDCR prisoner. Use post-release supervision for the parole, probation, PRCS, warrant, and discharge paths.

VINE and Federal Releases

California VINE is a notification layer, not a certified release record. It can alert users about release, transfer, escape, return to custody, and other custody changes for participating agencies. Register before the expected release when possible because a person may stop returning an active custody result after the release. For proof, use the jail release record, court case, CDCR record, or BOP record.

FCI Herlong makes the federal path important in Lassen County. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and may show a release date, "Released," or "Not in BOP Custody." Those words mean the person is no longer in BOP custody. They do not prove county probation status, state parole status, or immigration status. USMS custody can also involve local or private facilities before BOP designation, so federal pretrial cases may not appear in BOP yet.

Lassen Court Release Records

Lassen Superior Court records often outlast the jail page. The court portal covers non-confidential and non-sealed cases filed after 1994 and shows daily and weekly calendars, but the court warns that online information is for reference and is not the official court record. The court's criminal division page explains that in-custody arraignments generally occur within 48 hours of arrest, excluding weekends, court holidays, and mandatory closure days. It also notes that release paperwork, bail or bond receipts, notices to appear, and arraignment letters may matter when a person comes to court. Each record system answers a different question. Mixing them leads to bad conclusions, especially in a county with local, state, federal, and supervision systems.
